Strength and Stability….

Many natural gas marketers are Limited Liability Corporations (LLC) which shields them from potential risks associated with buying gas for you. Your risks for supply imbalance at the utility are as high as $6/therm. Would you pick a bank or insurance company that was an LLC.? Certainly not. Why would you pick an energy supplier that was? More importantly, even if a supplier warrants contractually they will pay for penalties you might incur, do you have it in the contract? If so, do they have the money set aside to pay this? If they do, do they have the intent to honor their commitment?

Check out the suppliers credit rating.  After Enron, knowing the financial strength of your supplier is essential. You don’t want to be in a position where you are working with a supplier that could disappear. Unlike electric, Illinois natural gas brokers/marketers are not really certified by the state.

Ease of Transacting....

Our natural gas program is designed to be “turnkey”. We do all the backroom work including nominations, balancing, acting as your agent at the utility to handle routine paperwork, and paying your utility bills.  The only thing we ask you to do is to decide which of the various pricing options makes the most sense to you.  We are experienced experts at counseling you through these options!

Simplified Billing….

Our clients receive one consolidated invoice that includes both your utility and gas charges, with the exception of AMEREN electric customers..  We will pay your utility bills for you and then pass along the costs in your monthly invoice. If you would like a copy of your utility bill attached to our invoice, we will accommodate you. You will have fewer bills to pay each month and costs that are easier to track.  If you have multiple sites, the bill will show each meter and the total cost along with its address. There are charges of $10/month for pooling fees in Peoples Gas service territory and no fees for locations in Nicor’s service territory. If you have used gas above your contracted quantities it is purchased at the next months NGI plus $.015/therm. If you have not used the contracted quantities, the gas is sold at NGI minus $.015/therm.

No Inventory Requirements....

With our program, if you elect, you will only pay for the gas you actually use each month. This means you don’t have to monitor your account status or have any inventory carrying costs.  As an additional benefit, if you have any inventory when you start with us, we will buy it at market price and provide a credit on your first invoice from us.  In the event you need maintenance or installation of your phone line and/or telemeter device for your gas meter(s), we will coordinate with our certified installers and bill the service at our cost. If additional facilities are ever added or deleted from your account just notify us and provide the account number. We will forward a new exhibit to you acknowledging the change and handle all the work at the utility on your behalf.

Penalty Protection….

Did you know if your account is not handled properly you and/or your marketer may be exposed to penalties of up to $6 per therm? Our standard contract language ensures you have minimized your penalty risk. Other marketers shift this responsibility back to you, frequently found in their fine print. There is no language in our agreement capping our responsibility up to your Maximum Daily Quantity (MDQ).  Other marketers do limit their exposure with this cap; it is standard language in many agreements.  This language, in effect, passes the burden of penalties back to you.  With the eroded financial condition of many other energy companies an important question to ask is, “if you do have a penalty, will they and can they pay?”  In the event of a penalty, Integrys Energy Services has the financial means to pay it and the intent to honor our commitment.
